How hard is it to use a online Tax filing program?
Answer: The program is very user friendly. You will be asked a series of questions as you complete your return and your answers will prompt further questions, until your return is finished. You are completely guided through the process. You MUST have Adobe Acrobat Reader to finish the return and we recommend getting it first before you start. You will need it so please download it first to save yourself any problems.

What Do I need to Get Started?
Answer: To get you started we've developed a Quicklist of the most common documents needed when you prepare your taxes. We have used the TurboTax product for over ten years both the personal and professional version. It would help if you had as much of your information available as possible before you begin. We also suggest keeping a copy of last years return handy for reference. However, even if you don't have all the information you need you can always take a break, make some notes, and come back to the program at a later date. Be sure to keep track of your user name and password!

Who has access to this information? Is Big Brother watching?
Answer: Your tax return is a secure, encrypted, protected document. That means no one has access to it except you and anyone you specifically authorize to see it. Once it is filed it is viewed by the IRS just like any other tax return. Taxcite.com and Turbotax take great care in insuring that your tax return remains in a very secure environment and this information is not made available to anyone. Your information is safe!

What are my chances of being audited if I do my taxes online?
Answer: Since there are fewer math errors and better guidelines with computer generated returns the chances of an audit are actually lower than with returns prepared by hand. This is the best approach to tax preparation without hiring a professional to review or prepare your taxes for you. How do I know I am taking all the deductions I am eligible for?
Answer: This is one of the potential pitfalls of doing your own taxes. TurboTax has done a great job of guiding you through the interview process to uncover any deductions you may not have thought of. Also, view the form titles available in the tax program. Sometimes seeing the titles will remind you of a topic that applies to your situation. You may want to pick up a good tax reference manual.

What if I make a mistake?
Answer: Take a little advice from the professionals here. After you have finished your return completely, take a break and review it later. It is good to wait a day and just review it again when you aren't so absorbed in the process. Of course this flies in the face of our instant technology, but it is a sound approach. If you file your return and discover a mistake later you can amend the return after the IRS has processed the original, but it can be complicated.

If I file online is Uncle Sam going to be monitoring my every move?
Answer: There is a big push from the IRS to promote computer generated tax returns and electronic filing. The IRS believes, correctly, that computer generated electronically filed returns will be more accurate and that making filing easier this way will increase voluntary compliance with the tax codes. It will also save the IRS millions in manpower costs because computer generated returns can be filed computer to computer or scanned into the IRS master system, eliminating the need for so many hands, and eyes, on your return. We believe the scrutiny of your tax return by the government is neither more nor less than before, but the chances of human error on the part of the IRS are greatly reduced if you use the E-file process.

How secure is this really?
Answer: We spend endless hours with our top developers every year focusing on the issue of electronic security. It is of paramount importance to us that your data stored on our site is very secure. Several levels of encryption are in place and are constantly tested and updated. Since we host tax information and many other types of secure and sensitive data we have taken extreme measures to insure your privacy by partnering with Verisign the leader in website data security on the Internet.
